December 2012

Well here we are in 2013 and Antonia is about to turn 2! We had a wonderful holiday season, multiple Christmas and birthday celebrations, lots of good food, family, and friends. Auntie Sara (Antonia calls her OSSI) came from New York and we all flew out to Tucson together for the first week of Christmas. Since I was "off" from mid-December, I tried some cooking and baking projects, some more successful than others. Here I tried to make Swedish pepparkakor from scratch:

This is a bit misleading, because actually the dough that I made ended up in the trash, since by chilling it I turned it into a granite boulder. Oh well! Good thing there's IKEA!

We made some edible ornaments for Antonia's daycare teachers
Our neighbors hired fake Santa to come around with his horse-drawn sled. Antonia was wary but polite.
Flight to Tucson: Angel baby and Dexter

Mamie's mini piano tree and gifts!
First night apero on the roof. Mamie is almost 93. We've got good genes.

Not a bad view!

We got to go spend the morning with Kit's horse, Rocky. Such a sweet boy.

After getting a nasty stomach bug and fever, Antonia was a bit spoiled. Cereal and Elmo in the bed (naked). She got better quickly.

My 31st birthday!

Birthday breakfast after I was SUPREMELY spoiled with gifts.

I made my own birthday dinner because I love to cook, especially when it doesn't turn into a granite boulder!

Hundred year old champagne glasses and Mumm...mmmmmmmmm Happy birthday to me!

We did not manage to get a good family portrait on the roof this year. Not for lack of trying!

L'âne, oui, l'âne

We left early in the morning on the 27th to fly back to Pittsburgh for second Christmas with Morfar (MAFFOO) It had snowed since we left, which was a fun change of scenery.

Finally got a real set of "china" from Guillaume's parents for Christmas

Poor Newt had a rough month. Abandoned at the kennel for 6 days, then got accidentally smashed in the nose with a car scraper brush during a game of pick-up snow baseball. Here he's feeling much better. Looleeminh is hepping heem.

For New Year's Eve we went downtown to First night. Antonia became a local news star when she was filmed dancing to the live music on the street
