Trip to Chicago, October 2013

Last week we accompanied Guillaume on a work trip to Chicago. It was a LONG drive so we set off at 5:45 Wednesday morning and even though the sun didn't come up for a couple hours, Antonia insisted on being awake (and incredibly cranky) for the better part of the morning. We stopped for second breakfast somewhere in Ohio. Road trips are the only time I condone this kind of eating (so delicious really). Winter came that morning and we saw the season's first snowfall somewhere in Indiana. Upon arrival to our weird hotel near Merchandise Mart, we took a nap and then hit the town with my good Swedish friend Hanna, who flew to meet us from NYC.

Baby obsession continues

On the 22nd floor, the interior courtyard is floor 15. Weird hotel.

Sushi Samba for some Asian/Brazilian fusion.

It was COLD.

7:30 am next morning! Mini rubber ducky makes a splash in the hotel pool

Billie, my best most cherished bosom friend from high school, took us to the Swedish neighborhood for brunch.

We took a warm up break at the Feminist bookstore. This book got us through the 7+ hour drive home a couple days later.

Antonia fell asleep in the carseat, so I wheeled her up to the room where she continued sleeping for 2 hours. Nice.

Hanna's instagram of the moment

Hanna became Antonia's IDOL on this trip. Check out that imitation technique!

A cold visit to the mirror bean (cloud gate) which I absolutely fell in love with. We came back with Guillaume the next day!

Sean, another of my most cherished friends from high school, drove 6 HOURS! to come spend the evening with us! I have amazing people in my life.

Waiting...and waiting....for our deep dish Chicago style pizza

ummmm. Guys. this is not as good as I had hoped. Don't mess with pizza, please.

Antonia was very tired after a day as a tourist, even with the car seat nap.

Drinks at the hotel bar

Réveille-toi PAPA!

On Friday, Guillaume worked from "home"

Billie found us a free kids' jazz concert at the cultural center, under the Tiffany dome.

During which, Antonia had to read up on how to work the camera.

Back to the bean.

Nicer in the sun!

Tacos for lunch at De Cera

Night view from the Sears (Willis) Tower 103 floors off the ground

Antonia saw a baby so had to be a baby for the picture.

With papa and Nemo on the skydeck. Phew!

Air swimming with Nemo.
A little blog announcement. Baby bump silhouette!
